Mediation and Facilitated Discussion

Diverse Group of Young Professionals

Unlike adversarial approaches that can take courage but result in considerable suffering for involved parties, Mediation and Facilitated Discussion offer a timely and cost effective way of addressing disputes in the workplace. Internationally recognised as an effective way to resolve conflict, Mediation or Facilitated Discussion provides a collaborative platform to restore and build positive working relationships.

Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution that is increasingly being utilised by the justice system.

With the support of a nationally accredited mediator implementing a structured process aligned with nationally recognised practice standards, participants work together to identify issues and explore options for solution with the aim of reaching mutually acceptable decisions about future actions and outcomes.

Interest based issues are most suitable for resolution through the voluntary process of mediation or facilitated discussion. Following a triage process with the referring party, the mediator meets with the parties individually to identify key issues of concern and parties’ needs, in addition to making a determination about the suitability of mediation as a process of resolution for the dispute.
